Is Organic Protein Powder Worth It? Here’s What to Look For

Congratulations – You’ve made it this far. Organic? That’s a common question I get from clients. First, ask yourself a few questions. Why are you changing to organic? Is it worth it? and How will it benefit you?
I debated with myself for years if organic was a better option. Here’s my honest answer. If you can afford it, then sure. BUT remember just because it’s organic does not always mean better. YES, the majority of organic products are most likely better than your standard conventional protein powder, vegetables, fruit, etc. I say just proceed with caution.

What to Look For:

Quality

If you have been following me for some time you know that I always stress quality. Stick to brands that are known for superior products, remember just because they’re one of the most popular brands does not mean it is a quality product. When I say quality, look to see where the product was manufactured, what type of facility it came from, types of ingredients, etc.

Claims

Is the organic protein powder you are about to consume making all types of promises and guarantees? If this is the case you probably want might want to put it back on the shelf and move over to the next powder you see. When a claim like “Lose 30lbs in 30 days” or “Superior fat burning” is somehow bolded and looks like it’s screaming at you it’s time to look elsewhere.

Pricing

This should be “obvious”. Don’t break your bank because everyone is shopping organic. If you can afford it, great! If not getting something like grass-fed, or a quality whey isolate is just as good. BUT if you can make sure that the serving size to price ratio makes sense. Look at you, you’re one step ahead already. Don’t go spending 60 bucks on a tub of protein only getting two weeks out of it.

Animal or Plant Protein?

Well if you consume anything your choices are almost infinite. You can go for whey, casein, pumpkin, pea protein…the list is endless.
FINALLY! Let’s get into the best organic protein powders!
